Abstract

The Developmental Activities for the Canadian Longitudianl Study on Aging span the time period April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2008 and include three phases.  Activities to be conducted during Phase I (April 1, 2004 to December 31, 2005) consist of the assessment of the feasibility and logistics of the proposed CLSA study design and its implementation.  A total of 11 feasibility studies are presented that address various aspects of public acceptance, participant recruitment, data collection, and data flow.  Although for many of the studies, research activities will take place at each of the three host institutions and one host institution will be the designated coordinator for studies falling into each of the three main categories if recruitment; data collection and data flow.  Projects related participant recruitment will be coordinated by Dr. Chrstina Wolfson at McGill University; projects related to data collection will be coordinated by Dr. Parminder Raina at McMaster University; and projects related to data flow and public acceptance wil be coordinated by Dr. Susan Kirkland at Dalhousie University.
