New Directions in Population Health Research: Linking Theory, Ethics, and Practice
Abstract
The Community and Population Health Research Training Program (CPHR) and the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit (SPHERU) are hosting a national conference to explore recent innovations and existing or emerging trends in population health reserach as they relate to reducing health disparities for particular communities or populations. Heath disparities between populations, whether defined by socio-economic status, ethnicity, gender, age or place, remain stubbornly resistant to change. Developing effective strategies to reduce these health disparities requires collaboration between researchers, communities, policy makers and practitioners. New directions in Population Health Research: Linking Theory, Ethics and Practice will provide an opportunity for academic and community reserachers, policy makers and practitioners to highlight the current state of population health reserach in Canada and abroad. The conference was held November 12 to 14, 2008 in Regina, Saskatchewan at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Centre.
