Abstract

The Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit (SPHERU) at the Universities of Regina and Saskatchewan was asked by the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), Saskatchewan Region of Health Canada to:

  1. Develop and deliver two workshops designed to assist Aboriginal Health Human Resource Initiative (AHHRI) and Aboriginal Health Transition Fund (AHTF) project managers in developing and implementing their project evaluation plans.
  2. Provide consultation with AHHRI and AHTF project managers to support progress on their evaluation plans.
  3. Begin to gather data related to the regional evaluation plan for the AHHRI and AHTF initiatives.

The background for this evaluation support and capacity building work is taken from the previously completed evaluation frameworks developed by SPHERU (completed in Phase I).  The relevant sections in the Final Report: Evaluation Frameworks for two First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) programs: The Aboriginal Health Human Resources Initiative and the Aboriginal Health Transition Fund (June 30, 2007) served as the general guideline for development of the work outlined.
