Phase III: Regional Review of the Aboriginal Health Human Resource Initiative and Mid-Term Progress Review of the Aboriginal Health Transition Fund

Abstract

The Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit (SPHERU) at the Universities of Regina and Saskatchewan was been asked by First Nations and Inuit Health (FNIH), Saskatchewan Region of Health Canada to:

  1. Develop and deliver a follow up meeting with Aboriginal Health Human Resource Initiative (AHHRI) and Aboriginal Health Transition Fund (AHTF) project leaders for the purpose of advancing project specific evaluations, assisting with data collection methods for their projects and collecting data for the regional evaluations.  These meetings will focus on facilitating sharing of program information across similar projects and more specific follow up with project leaders on how to share their stories with regard to progress, challenges and barriers to implementation.
  2. Complete the regional review of AHHRI and a mid-term progress review of AHTF by March 31, 2009 using project proposals as a source of base-line data and progress reports submitted by projects to FNIH as well as focus group results as the key data sources.
  3. Begin plans for the Learning Conference that is tentatively scheduled for June 2009.

The background for this evaluation support and capacity building work is taken from the previously completed evaluation frameworks developed by SPHERU and from its previous work with the AHHRI and AHTF project leads (see Phase I and Phase II).
