Research and community mapping for Southeast Saskatchewan Understanding the Early Years

— filed under:

Abstract

The Understanding the Early Years Study (UEY) examines the role of families and communities in the lives of young children by looking at the resources available and accessible in the communities, as well as the neighbourhood characteristics, and comparing them to children's 'readiness-to-learn' at kindergarted.  The Healthy Children research team at SPHERU is providing expertise in conducting community-based research neighbourhood mapping, and knowledg transfer and exchange to the Southeast Saskatchewan project, funded by Human Resources and Social Development Canada from 2007-2010.
