Research Methods

SPHERU’s team is involved in four inter-related kinds of primary and secondary research aimed at:

  • the creation of new knowledge;
  • independent policy analysis;
  • collaborative research with policy makers around shared research questions and evaluation of policies and programs; and
  • collaboration with communities on identifying the sources of health inequities and strategies to reduce these inequities.

 What sets us apart?

  • The diversity of our backgrounds, stages of career development, disciplinary training, methodological strengths, and individual health research interests.

Why is this important?

  • This allows us to harness a wide variety of disciplinary perspectives and expertise to the inquiry of specific aspects of population health.

  • Working collaboratively across the boundaries of our individual disciplines, SPHERU has made significant progress toward being truly interdisciplinary in the way we work.
  • this diversity gives us the ability to undertake critical population health research and it is the commitment to this approach that unifies our team
